The Best Cocktail Joints In Edinburgh

The Best Cocktail Joints In Edinburgh

I love silly little cocktails and the chance to dress up, go out with friends and discover a lush new venue. I've lived in Edinburgh since I was eighteen, so here are my favourite places to go!

Firstly, I'd like to caution that alcohol should be drunk responsibly and that these venues offer non-alcoholic alternatives. The most important thing is that you enjoy yourself!

For the most part, my favourite bars can be found within Edinburgh's New Town. This is one of the city's UNESCO sites, it's a Georgian neighbourhood that was built to entice Scotland's elite to move back to Edinburgh. It's full of  mansions, private gardens and many Instagrammable spots. So put on your glad-rags and say 'bottoms up!'

The first venue, and the site of my 21st Birthday celebrations is Candy Bar. Found in a basement venue on George Street, this venue boasts many creative and wacky drinks including ones in glittered skulls, with candy floss and possibly everything you could put on a drink! I like this venue for large group gatherings as you can book without paying a deposit and the vibe is always lively.

Candy Bar also offers a yummy food selection, I recommend the nachos.

The next has a very similar vibe, just a touch more decadent and floral. It's Copper Blossom, which can be found just along the road and down on North Castle Street. The ethos here is quite Bridgerton-esque, which is perfect for a day searching for Dukes or inciting scandal in Edinburgh's answer to Belgrave Square.

Thirdly, I'd recommend Le Monde. This venue seems to suit everyone, and everyone always seems to be having a good time. Think slick, and sensual, the establishment is very pristine. It's a bit more pricey than the other venues, but I believe the quality of drinks and atmosphere makes up for the price.

I cannot make this list without telling you about a wonderful speak-easy. Panda and Sons resembles a barber shop, but upon entering, head downstairs where you will find a bookcase. This is no ordinary bookcase, but the entry to a magical bar with signature smoky drinks and exceptionally knowledgeable staff. This is the perfect place if you'd like to impress a date, or if you fancy a new experience.

Finally, the most underrated place in my book is the bar at the top of Harvey Nichols. This is the perfect place for a spring or summer tipple (if the weather is on your side!). I love to order a cosmopolitan on the rooftop, enjoy the view and pretend to be Carrie Bradshaw for an hour.
