Day Trips in Le Marche & Umbria

1. Ascoli Piceno
Head to Ascoli Piceno, home of the famous fried olives and Piazza del Popolo, a beautiful, travertine-paved Renaissance square in the center, and the 13th-century Palazzo dei Capitani del Popolo. Have an aperitivo or gelato in Caffe Meletti.

TIP: Park at the affordable and accessible car park, Torricella, just a few minutes walk from the centre of Ascoli.
2. Fermo
One of our principle capital cities, Fermo has views of the sea, a beautiful, large piazza for lunch or dinner, and an antiques/bric-a-brac market on Thursday evenings during July and August.
3. Spello
Medieval winding streets, historical churches and palaces and a view of the Umbrian plains.

4. Perugia
The capital of Umbria, and a well-known cultural and artistic centre of Italy.

5. Porto San Giorgio
Head east to the coast to experience the warm waters of the Adriatic and a classic Italian seaside experience.

6. Lago di Fiastra

7. Assisi
The birthplace of St. Frances, it's the perfect day-trip town for visiting renaissance, Roman and medieval buildings, art galleries and shops.

8. Conero National Park
Enjoy this 500m high "rock" by the Adriatic Sea. If walking and nature is your thing, then this is for you. Discover some of the local towns, such as Sirolo, Numana and Portonovo Bay.
