How to Get to Boston

Taking the train from Union Station in DC to Boston South End is not for the weak. This overnight train won't be the most comfortable, but it will be one of the cheapest ways to get to The City on the Hill. If you are working with a limited timeframe and budget than using Amtrak and staying in hostels might just be the best option for you. Flixbus is a possible alternative to the train, but remember Amtrak has more bathrooms and more comfortable chairs.

Roundtrip airfare could cost between $163 and $478 between Logon Airport and Ronald Reagan in Arlington. Some of these flights don't even include the cost of a carry on! So when budgeting a trip, a round trip train ticket for $72 might just make your trip more doable.

If you have never taken Amtrak before, we suggest establishing yourself as a customer and creating an account so you can early points through Amtrak. Since you will be traveling overnight, luck is in your favor. There most likely won't be anyone sitting next to you for this journey. This is a very very strong chance.

When booking the leg there, look for the Northeast Regional 66 train that leaves at the latest time. This will be around 10:00pm and will start running in September 2023. You should arrive to Boston South End by 9:54am, but delays could be possibly. Since you are traveling on the Northeast Corridor and Amtrak owns 75% of the track, overnight delays should be rare.
