Detroit's Little Surprises: A Fall Weekend Getaway
Let's Start With Where You Set up Shop
We loved Hotel Indigo - it was budget friendly, close to EVERYTHING, and still very nice.
Right next door to us was the Westin, it was beautiful and there was a Starbucks attached to the lobby for a quick boost in the morning.
Where to Fuel Up
For an incredible Lebanese meal check out Leila, can we recommend the hummus and pita!
For a fun brunch vibe, check out the Hudson Cafe - just make sure to grab a reservation it gets BUSY!
Want a casual but delicious Detroit Style Pizza, grab one or two of their unique offerings and enjoy!
If you are in a hurry and want a quick but satisfying bite, grab a sandwich or pastry (or both) at Avalon Cafe & Bakery!
Where to Trek
We started our trip by going straight across the border via the Ambassador Bridge. It was easy, however, you'll wait 15-20 minutes to get through Border Control so plan accordingly.
Point Pelee surprised us with just how much there was to do and see. We could have easily spent a whole day!
I wish we had more time to explore the Riverwalk; it's a nice distance with great views and fun arts & moments along the way.
This is the one place we wish we had done and didn't have time to; don't miss it on your trip here!
For something more sporadic? The alleys we happened upon were a big surprise. Take your time and explore what they have to offer
Ready for an Experience?
The Tigers, Lions, and Red wings all play steps from each other - more of a sports person ? See if theirs a game in town depending on the season!
Want to catch a show?
Is live music more your thing?
There, of course, are so many restaurants, small parks, and adventures to be had, but I hope that if you find yourself in Detroit or Windsor/Ontario you are able to use this as resource of your To-Dos!
I also highly recommend the Detroit Free Press Marathon if you are current or aspiring marathoner.
