Montreal bagels are made using honey-water and are cooked in wood fire ovens. Here's an address to my favourite spot to grab one - St-Viateur Bagels. If you can't find it, just follow the smell down the street.

The most popular place to try smoked meat is Schwartz's Deli. It's a famous Jewish deli that was opened nearly 100 years ago.Insider's tip: sometimes the lineup gets very long. If you're hungry and don't want to wait, "Main Street Deli" is just down the block and they also have a great smoked meat sandwich.

A great pick for shopping lovers, or anyone arriving in winter. It's a huge network of shopping below the city. If you're confused how to get down there, start on Sainte-Catherine Street and enter in the Eaton's Center.

Café Myriade - hipster, cool working cafe

Every Sunday since the '60s, this iconic drum circle has been bringing great vibes to Montreal.

There's a huge Haitian community in Montreal and their food is definitely worth a try.Insider's tip: This restaurant is in Saint-Henri, another cool part of the city. Though a bit far away, it's worth a whole afternoon if you have enough time to explore.
