Travel checklist: have the essentials on hand + packing advice

Luka Vander Aa
This list is just to get the essentials right! It feels like such a chore to always think about what I have to pack. That’s why I’ve made a list for myself with all the important stuff. I think it’s pretty universal for everyone who enjoys travelling. Feel free to copy + paste & adapt to your needs :)

👛The pouch

I personally always like to have a pouch on my body with my most valuable items. Cardinal principles here are: I don’t have to carry it, it’s the hardest to get stolen, but it also can fit in any handbag, backpack or tote bag I’ve brought should security see it as hand luggage. (So tip: save some extra room in your carry-on luggage. Not only just in case for your pouch, but also for souvenirs). In my pouch, I carry:

- wallet (cards + ID)

- phone

- charger

- keys

- portable battery

- lip balm

- passport

- tea bags (lol)

- airpods

- sunnies + glasses

- waterbottle

I use the UNIQLO shoulder bag, which fits everything (yes, including water bottle). But you can also definitely shift some items over to your backpack.

🎒Backpack / purse / totebag

Ideally, only one of these where you can also store the other two. I like to store a variety of valuable items in here, covered up by the ones that don't fit in my suitcase. For example, I'll carry my camera's in my backpack and cover that up with clothing that didn't fit in my suitcase.

- travel documents

- camera gear

- an extra sweater

🃏📚💻Entertainment

- snacks

- binoculars

- a deck of cards

- hat

- book

- laptop + charger

✈️🛩️Tip

Don’t forget to download your music/podcasts/movies on your devices before boarding a plane
