Short term rentals are very problematic in the Catalan capital, where aren’t they really? In fact, the current mayor has vowed to rid the city entirely of all short term rentals by the year 2028 in an effort to return those apartments to the open housing market. Sooo, Airbnb will NOT be your safest bet here in Barcelona. In the meantime though, if you choose to take a gamble on it please make sure that the apartment has the appropriate license. You can verify that here.

Situated directly across from Montjuïc park and in one of the tastiest neighborhoods in town, you will feel right at home in this trendy yet comfy hotel in Poble Sec. The service is unparalleled at this casual hotel and the location is one of my favorites in town. For a splurge check into the penthouse suite with its own private terrace and dip pool.

Rooms here either face the wide, leafy Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes or the inner terraces of a classic Eixample block. Both options provide great views unique to an Eixample stay however I prefer the front-facing rooms with the antique, original hydraulic tile floors and wrought iron balconies overlooking the street below. Check out the “chiringuito” rooftop bar for a late afternoon apertivo.

The hip Hoxton brand is trusted and well-known with locations in the US and throughout Europe. The Barcelona hotel in Poblenou is no exception with sweeping rooftop views of the city and a pool. Bonus- it is a great place to watch the sunset.

If you are looking for accommodations with friends and/or family or just prefer to have a little more space with a kitchen then check out these self-service apartments in Sant Antoni. Each apartment has at least a balcony but some boast terraces looking over the inner block or the street below. Bonus- it is blocks from my personal favorite, the Sant Antoni market!
