Tirana, Albania: a culinary delight🇦🇱
Traditional Albanian wear
Make sure to eat some Qofte and pilaf when in Albania
Important to drink Raki and Albanian beer
This is a traditional Albanian restaurant. They have Zgara. It's light on the pockets in terms of prices. I had my first Albanian meal here and the taste still lingers in my mouth. It's not far from the city centre/Skanderberg square.
Albanian food is varied. They love their meat but also like their fish and seafood. Be sure to find a fish restaurant around the city. They are mostly blue and white in colour
This dish is called Tave Kosi that I had at Shendevere Wine Bar.
This is called (liver) Fergese.
Era Restaurant serves traditional Albanian dishes. This was from Era Blloku.
These are called Petulla in Albania. They can be served with feta cheese and or jam or with honey. You can find these Petullas at 3DDDi pizzeria or Bufe wine bar. They are freshly prepared.
This is apparently a hangover cure. It's meat from the legs and head of a sheep served with fresh chillies. Yep, this is breakfast bought from a traditional Albanian restaurant past 'Pazari Ri'
Buy fish and some seafood at the local fish market then buy fresh veges and make yourself a salad or veges to go with your fish dinner. You can find fish markets everywhere in Tirana as well as fruit and vege markets. You can SAY Albania specialises in them. You pick, you weigh and you pay. That simple
For dessert weight some fruits and make a fresh fruit platter to enjoy
Or you can head to a bakery and treat yourself to something sweet and delicious
It has syrup. I can't remember what it's called
Be careful of Albanian pastries. They are delicious and evidence of their Albanian, Balkan, Italian and Mediterranean influence
While on desserts, this was the yummiest Gelato I had whilst in Tirana. Try their yoghurt flavour too. I always go for Pistacchio. A scoop is about 100leke. They also have delicious pizza slices. They are Halaal.
You won't go wrong with Laguna, but just be careful of the queues. Anyway, a food spot with a queue is always a good sign, isn't it?! 😁🤞🏾
