Driving in South Africa
Driving in South Africa is not too difficult. The main things you need to worry about are:
đ§Road conditions in some areas. Mostly the roads in South Africa are fine, but in some areas (off main roads), there can be potholes or the roads are sometimes poorly maintained. I recommend a sturdy vehicle that can withstand bumps.
đ¨Police checkpoints, which are common. If you get stopped by the police and you are doing nothing wrong, there is no need to worry. If you think the police may be seeking a bribe, simply stay calm, provide any paperwork they need and be polite.
đ´ââ ď¸ Safety. People worry a lot about safety while driving in South Africa, but for most tourists, South Africa is quite a safe country to drive in.
