Stay Here:

1. Landmark Hotel

Landmark Hotel Medellin
@belkisfrias
I stayed here & loved it! However, this hotel is 10-15min walk to Provenza (the street you want to be closed to) I usually like to be 5-8min walk from main attractions but the amineties and quality of service at this hotel make up for being a bit farther. Also, the rooftop was amazing!

Most people love this hotel & is in the heart of everything. Might try next!

Pro Tips:

Fill out the immigration form the day before flying (one less thing you have to do)

Book your tours w/ a local tour company!

I went with Sercortour & I highly recommend. I believe you get a genuine experience better aligned with the Colombian culture. You’re also, contributing directly to the Colombian economy and its growth.

Try not to wear expensive/gold jewelry

This is mainly when going outside late at night in el poblado, when you’re in comuna 13, & when you go into the center of the city “el hueco”. I never felt truly unsafe in Medellin, but the locals really advise us against it & here we listen to the locals 😁

Use Uber to move around (if needed )

Taking Ubers is super cheap, very reliable & very secure. Before I went they told me Uber was illegal & maybe it is true but we didn’t have any problems.

Day 1: Arrive & get to know poblado

Arrive in Medellin between 7am-11am

Check with your hotel before hand & see if you can check-in early

Brunch: mamacitas medallo/mondogos

Restaurante Mondongo's El Poblado
@belkisfrias
Really amazing Colombian food! FYI- the portions are huge & they don’t serve the traditional bandeja paisa.

Activity 1: Pueblito Paisa

Pueblito Paisa
@belkisfrias
Try the calentao breakfast & get a limonada coco, I still dream about that limonada I personally wouldn’t care to come here again since it’s a replica of a Pueblo paisa and I went to guatape but it was a nice stop for breakfast

Activity 3: Climb El Peñol

El Peñol
@belkisfrias
Wear good sneakers & a good attitude cause these 708 steps are no joke! the views at the top are worth it & so is the limonada coco. Btw going down the steps your legs will be shaky 🫠 & if you’re claustrophobic there’s some tight spaces to watch for.

Lunch: El balcón restaurant

Activity 4: Colombian granja

- I didn’t know I needed this stop because I was so tired however, I loved seeing all the cute animals & truly hanging out Colombians. El pan de queso here was to truly die for 🤤

Arrive back to your hotel (7:30PM)

Quick dinner at Lucho arepas

Party at Perro Negro

Black Dog Club
@belkisfrias
Drinks here are $16-22 each, this is super expensive for Colombia and poblado in general where you can get cocktails for $8-14 almost everywhere. The vibes here were amazing & the perreo great! I think we should all experience a night at perro negro but I also think is crazy overpriced.

Next stop: Cartagena de Indias
