Melanie
In honor of Earth Week and National Park Week, here is a list of some hiking trails around Georgia, a few hours from Atlanta, to check out!
Be sure to pack snacks, water bottles, bug spray, and sun screen, depending on the day. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes to hike in; you never know how the trails will be.

Raven Cliffs Trailhead
@melaniedavis
This is a moderately challenging trail between 5-6 miles round-trip. I have seen different information online in different places. There is a $5 cash fee per vehicle; bring more, just in case. There is a shallow creek crossing (ankle-deep low water, calf-deep high water) necessary to access this trail.

Lula Lake Land Trust
@melaniedavis
Lula Lake is open to the public on Open Gate Days, costing $15 per car. Open Gate Days are the first and last weekends of the month. From December – April, Lula Lakes is only open on Saturdays from 9:00 to 5:00. From May – November, it’s also open from 12:00 to 5:00 on Sundays. The entrance gate closes at 3:30 because it will take at least 1 1/2 hours to visit Lula Lakes for a 3-mile round-trip hike. It's of moderate difficulty. As a note, Lula Lakes Land Trust is in Georgia, which means that they run on the Eastern Time Zone.

Stone Mountain Trail
@melaniedavis
Stone Mountain has 15 miles of hiking and walking trails with different levels of difficulty. There is a 5-mile trail around the base and a 1-mile trail to the summit, for example. The trail is open daily from dawn to dusk unless the website says they are closed. I believe there is a $20 parking fee to walk but please double check the website.

Panther Creek falls
@melaniedavis
This is about a 7-mile round-trip trail and is more difficult for some people and pets. There may be a small $5-10 fee for admission.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Melanie
Welcome to my page! It's a pleasure to have you here! I’m a GA peach traveling and exploring this big world.
You’re in the right place if you enjoy traveling on a budget. I enjoy helping others travel while on a budget. When people here 'budget,' they don't get warm and fuzzy inside. I want to change that.
Many of my explorations take place in Atlanta and its surrounding cities. I also get out of the great state of GA a few times a year for domestic and international adventures and hope to help you travel well on a budget.
Please know I don't do this alone. You'll see DeeDee's name on some of our collaborated guides. She is a great travel planner with an eye for often-overlooked things. She includes every small detail that you might not think about.
