Watch the sunset
Santorini is famous for its stunning sunsets, so be prepared to chase the horizon as soon as it approaches 7o’clock every evening. You’d think after a couple of days you wouldn’t be as fussed about catching the sunset, but believe me you’ll spend every morning working out how you can beat the view from the night before. There are simply no words to describe how special it is to see. Our top spots for watching the sunset whilst in Santorini were at Skaros Rock in Imerovigli and from the lower balcony at PK Cocktail Bar in Fira.
Take a catamaran tour
This is an absolute must whilst in Santorini! It’s a great way to see the sights and enjoy the volcanic landscape from the water. We were picked up at about 9am, there were 10 of us onboard and that felt just right. Most tours have a similar route, ours started at red beach, then moved onto white beach, both aptly named for the colour of the sand. We only stopped here for a short while for pictures, before heading over to the caldera to bathe in the lagoon’s hot springs.
We then made our way back towards the black mountain for a snorkel and a spot of lunch. On our tour, we had a BBQ on the boat, which was absolutely delicious (literally one of the best meals we had during our stay in Santorini), freshly prepared whilst we enjoyed a swim with the colourful fish.
We booked the catamaran through our hotel for the next day and went for the morning tour. With the evening tour you get to watch the sunset, but we heard that the morning tour tends to be less crowded for this reason. Our tour company was Caldera Yatching and they were brilliant!
