Transportation
🚘 Car rental
I highly recommend you rent a car is highly recommended, as public transportation can be limited outside the main city.
Renting a car gives you the freedom to visit Okinawa’s beautiful beaches, cultural sites, and scenic countryside at your own pace.
Numerous car rental companies are available at Naha Airport.
We rented a car with the company below (not a sponsorded or affiliated link)
Ferries in Okinawa offer a scenic and convenient way to explore the region’s stunning islands. With routes connecting the main island to smaller, remote islands, travelers can enjoy both transportation and breathtaking ocean views. Ideal for island hopping, these ferries provide a unique way to experience Okinawa’s rich culture and natural beauty.
Data Plan
I personally alway use Ubigi to make sure I have data in Japan, it always worked in all the destination I went to.
My favorite plan is the 10GO for 30 days it's enough to cover your needs for GSP for a week and more.
Being without internet in Japan can complicate things, so I highly recommend you choose a plan with data.
You must book to be certain to eat there as seating is limited, they focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients, creating dishes that reflect the flavors of Okinawa. I cannot recommend this place enough
Best pancakes I have ever eaten in my entire life and I know what I am talking about, when you get there put your name in the list outside if there is a line.

🐚 Beaches
Okinawa is home to some of Japan’s most beautiful beaches, offering pristine white sands and turquoise waters. From bustling family-friendly spots to secluded coves, the islands boast a variety of beaches perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and sunbathing. Okinawa’s beaches are not only a tropical paradise but also a gateway to vibrant marine life and coral reefs.
Aharen Beach is a secluded beach that you can reach by ferry and then take a bus to. Everything is well planned, when the ferry arrives you can get on a bus straight to the beach and rent umbrellas and anything you may need there. The bus will take you back, just make sure to have some cash.
A hidden gem in Okinawa, known for its serene atmosphere and crystal-clear waters. It’s an ideal spot for relaxation, swimming, and enjoying peaceful ocean views away from crowded tourist areas.
If you like horses why not ride a little on the beach. The staff is super friendly and there are lots of choices for different experiences for different levels.
