No Reservations for RMNP? No problem.
During the Pandemic, Rocky Mountain National Park implemented a timed reservation system to enter the Park as a way to lower the number of visitors in the park at one time. After Yellowstone, Rocky Mountain is the second most visited National Park in the United States, with almost 4.5 million visitors each year. With the influx of tourists visiting the National Parks in order to take part in outdoor travel due to the pandemic, the park was forced to create a reservation system in order to keep the Park enjoyable to visitors and to preserve its natural ecosystems.
Being the organized planner that I am, I ended up planning this trip pretty last minute and was still unable to book a reservation to the Park. After doing several hours of research, I was able to design a plan that I feel got us (my boyfriend & I) as much as we could out of our 3-day visit - flying in and out of Denver, with one full day in Estes Park.
Use this exact itinerary for your trip, or use it as an add-on to visiting other places in the area, or if you have more time in Estes, but were only able to get reservations for part of that time.
RMNP Reservations
If you have more time & would like to use it as an add-on to days on which you have reservations, you can book those reservations with the links below. Your reservation time that you get will give you a 2-hour time window to enter the park. You cannot enter the park before or after that time window while the entrance stations are taking reservations.
