Our incredible peninsula is characterized by regional cuisine, that varies due to historical, traditional, cultural, and environmental factors of a specific territory. For this reason, every place will have something special that can and should be enjoyed exclusively there. FYI: Often there are even dishes specific to only one city or village. In this guide, we'll explore UMBRIA and all its culinary secrets. An incredible list of more than 20 traditional dishes that you must try there, each one on them explained. Umbria is in itself an incredible region, offen refers to as the "green heart of Italy", and for obvious reasons: The region's verdant countryside is characterized by lush valleys dotted with vineyards, olive groves, rolling hills, and picturesque small hilltop towns that literally seam frozen in Medival time.

It's culinary scene is a perfect, vibrant reflection of its bountiful land, where fresh, high-quality ingredients are the cornerstone of unique dishes. Thanks especially to the region's fertile soil incredible products are abundant, from hearty grains to fragrant herbs, providing the building blocks for a diverse and flavorful cuisine, that vary from area to area.  From the renowned cured meats of Norcia to the abundant mushrooms and truffles of the Spoleto area and Val Nerina, each region boasts its own culinary specialties rooted in history and terroir. Furthermore, the territories surrounding Orvieto, Perugia, and Lake Trasimeno are celebrated for their olive trees and vineyards, which produce a wealth of DOP/PDO wines renowned for their quality and character.
