How to Have a Beautiful Time in Mexico City

I recommend staying in La Condesa, Roma Norte, Hipódromo, and Juárez. Coyoacan is also beautiful but a little farther out. These neighborhoods are the best for visitors and have so many restaurants, coffee shops, parks, stores, and bars. They’re also very close to each other, so you can walk everywhere. They’re gorgeous, filled with colorful houses and beautiful architecture. 

There’s too many great coffee shops in Mexico City at every corner, so here’s a few others that I really enjoyed.

Some of my favorite moments in Mexico City were just me sitting on a bench eating a pastry and people watching. If you want to have a beautiful time in Mexico City eating good food, seeing lots of art, shopping, and enjoying the small moments, this guide is for you. 

The great thing about Mexico City is that you can go get a coffee at 9 pm. There’s no such thing as a coffee shop that closes at 4 pm. It’s not hard to find cute coffee shops in Mexico City, but I did have a few that I frequented.

During my time in Mexico City, I lived in two long-term Airbnbs in Hipódromo on Avenida Amsterdam in La Condesa. I found this area to be quieter and more residential than Roma Norte and it was also great to have Parque Mexico and Parque España right there, especially since I traveled with my dog.

There are many beautiful hotels and Airbnb options but as long as you find a place in one of these neighborhoods, you can’t go wrong. 

There are incredible bakeries and breakfast spots in Mexico City at pretty much every corner. This was really hard to narrow down and chances are, you’ll come across other places while walking around, but here are some of my recommendations for when you just want a nice flaky pastry or chilaquiles—or both. 

Tacos are a go-to for lunch, but there’s also a wide range of spots to go to in Mexico City for when you’re starting to get hungry.

It was tempting to add every single restaurant I went to for dinner in Mexico City. But if I had to pick the stars, here are the restaurants I can’t stop thinking about. Some are pricier, some are casual, some are romantic, but all are unforgettable. 

Mexico City has an extremely lively nightlife. There are cute bars at every corner, as well as places to dance all night. I mainly go to low-key bars though, so here are some of my recommendations if you want a chill night with a good cocktail or glass of natural wine. 

Sometimes you want something icy or juicy or refreshing or sweet, or all of the above. Here are spots when you’re craving a 3pm (or 10pm) treat.

There’s so much art in Mexico City, so this is only scratching the surface. If you walk around, there’s art galleries almost everywhere. But here’s a a list of museums and architecture tours that I loved.
